Empress, builder and one of the most powerful women of her age.

Nur Jahan married Jahangir in 1611 and became the real power behind much of his reign. Coins were struck in her name. In Kashmir she is linked with the Pathar Masjid and the garden at Achabal.

  • Her name means light of the world.
  • Her brother Asif Khan built Nishat Bagh, and her niece Mumtaz Mahal is the woman the Taj Mahal was built for.
