Kalhana

Kalhana was the son of a minister at the court of King Harsha. In 1148 and 1149 he wrote the Rajatarangini, drawing on older chronicles, inscriptions, coins and temple records, and he openly criticised earlier writers for their errors. His work is the backbone of Kashmir's early history.

- His chronicle runs to nearly 8,000 Sanskrit verses in eight books.
